Welcome to Troop 75!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. As you decide on your future scout troop, we hope that you put Troop 75 on your list of “must see” scout troops. Here is some information about our troop that we hope will convince you that we are the right troop for your scout.

Since 1931 we have been a chartered scouting unit under the auspices of the First United Methodist Church of Delmar, where we meet every Wednesday night from approximately 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We strive to make scouting a safe and fun learning experience through a multitude of scouting events, always striving for a balance between having fun and helping the boys grow into mature, responsible and capable adult leaders.

Our typical monthly schedule includes:
• A parents meeting where we plan the upcoming events
• An advancement night, where older scouts can meet with merit badge counselors, and younger scouts receive individualized and group instruction from older, more experienced scouts
• A preparation meeting for a monthly weekend campout, canoe trip or hike
• A fun night, such as bowling, laser tag, rock climbing, a visit to the airport control tower, FunPlex, or other fun activity

We also participate in two weeklong summer camps, which provide ample opportunity for rank advancement, as well as giving the boys a fun time in a beautiful outdoor setting.

If I had to summarize the reason for our success as a troop I would have to put on the top of my list the dedicated leadership and the commitment of our scout families. Most of our parents are registered Committee Members who help organize and support all the fun activities we provide for the boys. Having so many adults actively participating, helps lighten the load for everyone, and provides lots of valuable opportunities for the boys. Troop 75 is truly a family oriented troop and many of our activities are open to the entire family.

Another unique aspect of Troop 75 is our fundraising activity. Since 1973 we have conducted a winter sports gear swap at the Bethlehem Central High School which we call “Sportsmart”. This event has been so successful that it is our one and only fundraising activity – no popcorn or candy sales!

If that were not enough, I should mention that we own 10 canoes and a travel trailer with a restaurant size grill that is the heart and soul of our adult leadership. All this, along with your typical troop set up of tents, lanterns, cooking gear, and tarps that allow us to camp in just about any weather.

We certainly hope that your scout seriously considers making us their next scout troop. Please contact us if you have any questions!

Thanks again for visiting with Troop 75!
Sincerely,

Rick Ryther
