Troop's 2018 High Adventure Options to be Discussed at December Parents' Meeting

Posted on Nov 14 2016 - 10:37pm

At the December parents meeting we will be discussing, among other things, the troop's high adventure plan for 2018.  Options include Philmont, Sea Base, Northern Tier and/or Summit. Infomation on each can be found here,   Attendance is based on a lottery system. The first lotteryt is for Philmont, which is held in December. If we get a spot, we would have until the end of January 2017 to make a committment and pay our deposits. The other high adventure bases' lotterys are held in the spring. Please come to the December meeting so we can gauge interest level for the various high adventure options and plan accordingly.

Loudonville Troop 78 is looking for Merit Badge Counselors

Posted on Nov 4 2016 - 1:22pm

Troop 78 in Loudonville is looking for Merit Badge counselors for their December 17th merit badge college.  If anyone is interested, please contact Charles Patricelli at cpatrice@nycap.rr.com.  From the email I received, it looks like our scouts will be able to participate if they want.  However, I have not yet received any information on sign-up, cost or what merit badges they are offering.  Once I do, I'll send out to the troop so our scouts can take a look if interested.

Brant Lake Cabin Camping - December 9th - 11th

Posted on Oct 31 2016 - 6:57pm

Brant Lake cabin camping is a perennial favorite of the troop.  The cabin is about as far from "roughing it" as you can get.  Two full bathrooms with showers.  Full kitchen.  Bunk room upstairs with bunk beds with mattresses.  There is a camp to explore, hikes to take and plenty of space to do what scouts do.  Cost will be $15/person for food.  We typically do a single menu for the whole group given the access to a full kitchen.  And we eat very well!  Please bring your money for the outing and permission slips to the November 30th meeting.  Johanna Sullivan will be collecting both that night.
